Laser Equipment Sleep Mode

The results of the analysis of the actual effects of the laser device's sleep function include energy-saving data, ease of operation and user experience. The report is a valuable reference for both businesses and individuals, covering such topics as energy conservation, smart sleep technology, and energy efficiency.

Why does a computer need to be able to hibernate?

Anyone who has used a laser machine knows that running it for long periods of time with no material in it not only wastes electricity, but also speeds up the aging of the parts.Especially since the machines in the factory run all day, the electricity bills are heart-wrenching.Intelligent hibernation technology was developed to solve this problem. Once a device detects that it is idle, it automatically enters a low-power state, saving money and extending the device's life.

How much energy can be saved by putting a computer into sleep mode?

We selected a mainstream industrial laser engraver for testing, and monitored it for 72 hours continuously.

Power consumption in normal mode.

Without the standby power saver, the power consumption of the equipment remains steady at about 380 watts, which is equivalent to throwing away half a kilowatt-hour of electricity per hour.

Smart sleep mode.

After the computer is woken up, if it is idle for more than 10 minutes, the frequency is automatically reduced, and the standby power is cut to 35 watts. This saves at least eight kilowatt-hours per day, or more than NT $ 200 a month in electricity bills.

Experience: Will it affect work efficiency?

At first we were worried that waking up so often would interfere with our work, but in fact it never became a problem.

Response speed.

The average time it takes to go from sleep mode to full operation is just three seconds, which is much faster than restarting the computer.During testing, the system was switched back and forth 20 times, and the machine never got stuck.

Adjusting the sensitivity of the receiver.

The equipment can be programmed to go into sleep mode after a specified period of inactivity. The company recommends that the time be set to 15-30 minutes, which is enough to conserve energy without interrupting the workflow.

This is the real feedback of the users.

We interviewed three processing plants that have been using this function for a long time:

- "Electricity bills have dropped 18 %, and maintenance costs have also fallen" (technician at a metal processing plant).

A wood products workshop owner says: "New workers often forget to turn off the machines. This function saves us a lot of worry.

--" You sometimes need to adjust the distance of the sensor, but everything else is pretty idiot-proof. "

What equipment is worth buying?

When choosing a laser printer with an intelligent sleep feature, there are three points to keep in mind:

1. Is the standby power consumption lower than 50 watts (the industry standard)?

2) Does it have a power failure protection function?

3. The sensor module should be a physical sensor rather than a software-based detector.
